I am a freelancer artistic practitioner specialising in cameras and photography and working predominantly in the culture industries in Birmingham, UK.
For my income, I focus my energies in three main areas:
1) My artistic practice, documented on my art site, which is the source of my expertise and experience.
2) Photo School, the umbrella organisation for my photography teaching and photo walks.
3) The Birmingham Camera Obscura project where we’re developing educational and touring packages.
Around these is the sea of grey areas and overlaps where new collaborations and opportunities for work emerge, often in areas I hadn’t considered and which I usually embrace.
Invoices sent during 2015 show a trend towards working in an educational capacity with both adults and children, through guided practice and demonstration, around using cameras as tools for exploration. Trends for 2016 remain a mystery at this point.
Clients in 2015/16 included:
Stan’s Cafe Theatre Company – Artist practitioner working on the Trailblazers project devising and leading photo walks with Year 10 students around Birmingham. Project in progress, to be completed in Feb 2016.
Royal Academy of Music – I run a workshop for the RAM’s Professional Development day helping students think about how their internet presence can help their musical career once they graduate.
